We'd be delighted to see you on campus for ASC’s Artisan Marketthis Saturday from 10am–2pm to explore a locally curated selection of handmade gifts and gourmet treats from vendors of all ages
thoughtfully crafted here in our community.
Families can also enjoy keiki crafts, fishing from our campus ponds, treasures from our campus garden, and live music by HAAStile.
Now, perhaps more than ever, it is important to shop locally. We look forward to welcoming you in support of the creativity and talent found in our area.
Beyond School Clubs
Our Beyond School Club programs have been a highlight of the semester, each one offering students a chance to explore new, often niche interests. The Garden Café Club remains a beloved gathering place for elementary and middle school students who join Dani to explore plants, experiment with garden-to-table creations, and enjoy the simple joys of working with their hands. Miss Mo has energized the STEAM Clubs with imaginative, hands-on projects that bring science to life.
This fall, we welcomed ReBecca to the team, and her ASL (American Sign Language) classes have quickly become a cross-campus favorite, drawing students of all ages, along with parents and HAAS/ASC staff who appreciate her energized and engaging teaching style. MATHCOUNTS, facilitated by Carter, has been another exciting addition - his strong leadership turns problem-solving into a lively, confidence-building experience. We were also thrilled to introduce Volleyball Club, expanding physical activity options for our students.
Darlene continues to anchor Academic Support Club with a calm, encouraging environment where students can focus, catch up on schoolwork, and access resources to help them thrive. Anime and Skateboarding Clubs have also grown steadily, providing passion-driven spaces where students can learn, create, and connect with peers who share their interests.
Our largest group, the Performing Arts Club, is buzzing with creativity as dozens of enthusiastic students prepare for School of Rock: The Musical. We hope you’ll join us for the performances during the last two weeks of January!
This month, Beyond School Club students in grades 3-9 took part in a special field trip organized by our STEAM Club facilitator, Marcene Ogawa a.k.a. Miss MO. Three ASC chaperones accompanied 17 students to Pualani Bee Farm in Wa‘a Wa‘a, where beekeeper Barbara Thompson shared her extensive knowledge and passion for caring for honeybees.
Students learned fascinating facts about bees both locally and globally, observed two different beekeeping methods, and enjoyed an unforgettable honey-tasting experience.
The trip reached capacity quickly, and we hope to schedule another visit soon so more students can enjoy this opportunity.
In October, we were able to offer our Performing Arts students a trip to the Wizard of Oz performance at the Palace in Hilo to share a taste of community theater and get a preview of a live pit band in action, which we will see in our winter production of School of Rock - the musical!

Mark your calendars on "Pi Day" Saturday, March 14, 2026!
Join us at ASC for our first-ever STEAM-CON a community celebration of the Arts & Sciences that Surround Us.
A spin off of Comic-Con, this exciting event invites all ages to explore the intersections of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) through hands-on exhibits, performances, and interactive experiences. This year’s theme STEAMpunk Island blends imagination and innovation with a tropical twist.
If you or someone you know would like to present a TED-style talk, contribute a feature, or showcase an idea, please reach out to Jillian via info@hiasc.org.
